Algunos comentarios
Nací en la ciudad de Zapala, provincia del Neuquén, Argentina, en diciembre de 1970. Actualmente vivo en Puerto Madryn, Chubut, junto a Anahí, mi pareja y compañera inseparable, con quien comparto mi gran pasión por la vida silvestre y quién soporta a mi lado las largas jornadas de trabajo en el campo y sufre mis largas ausencias cuando viajo solo…Sin su apoyo y comprensión me sería muy difícil seguir adelante con esta pasión.
Desde
pequeño sentí una fuerte atracción e interés
hacia la naturaleza, la imponencia y majestuosidad de los distintos paisajes
y ambientes naturales y la vida al aire libre, principalmente hacia los
animales silvestres, su diversidad de formas y colores y sus relaciones
con el entorno y con otros animales.
Casi simultáneamente surgió mi necesidad de capturar y transmitir
de alguna manera esas imágenes y momentos que causaban en mí
tan profundas sensaciones. Comencé con una pequeña cámara
Kodak compacta, película blanco y negro y algunas cuantas indicaciones
de mi padre, con quien compartimos esa pasión por la naturaleza
y la fotografía.
Sin duda, mi vocación y mi estilo fotográfico se acentuaron
y definieron en mis años de estudiante de Zoología en la
Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Durante este tiempo, incrementé
enormemente mis conocimientos sobre la fauna y sus relaciones, y tuve
la suerte de poder viajar por gran parte del país realizando trabajos
de campo en el área de la biología, pero sobre todo aprovechando
para capturar cientos de imágenes de animales, plantas y paisajes.
Simultáneamente, esta etapa despertó en mí un fuerte
compromiso hacia la conservación del medio ambiente y las especies
nativas. De hecho, mi mayor anhelo, respecto a mi trabajo, es que de alguna
manera sirva para transmitir este sentimiento y esta necesidad a las personas
que lo vean, y así contribuir a formar una conciencia social que
nos permita mejorar nuestra calidad de vida y asegure la perpetuidad de
nuestros ecosistemas, para que en el futuro, nuestros hijos y nietos puedan
sentir lo que siento hoy al salir de mi carpa para respirar el aire de
la mañana y escuchar el canto de las aves en algún lugar
remoto, lejos de la vorágine ruidosa e impersonal de las grandes
ciudades.
En cuanto a las cuestiones más prácticas, y menos importantes
de mi trabajo, puedo decir que algunas de mis fotos han sido publicadas
en varias revistas y libros en Argentina y en el exterior. Han sido usadas
en folletos de difusión y artículos científicos.
He obtenido premios y menciones de honor en concursos de Argentina y Chile.
Pero sobre todo, algunas de mis imágenes han logrado despertar
nuevas sensaciones en las personas, dándoles muchas veces un enfoque
diferente sobre algo conocido o haciéndoles conocer algo impensado
para muchos. Esto, sin duda, es lo más importante, y es lo que
me motiva a seguir sacando fotos día a día.
En esta etapa, mi desafío personal es buscar enfoques más
"artísticos" de la naturaleza, mostrar de una forma menos
explícita situaciones cotidianas del mundo natural y captar de
algún modo esos momentos únicos e irrepetibles en la vida
de los animales.
Actualmente estoy realizando algunos viajes fotográficos a otros
países de Sudamérica y algunos lugares de Argentina, en
el marco del proyecto de una guía de las Aves Rapaces de Sudamérica,
además de ampliar mi archivo, enriquecer mi experiencia personal
y conocer lugares que soñé desde pequeño.
No pretendo con mis imágenes o mis comentarios mostrar una verdad
absoluta, de hecho, creo que no existe tal cosa. Sólo exponer un
punto de vista, el mío, y tal vez despertar en algunos la curiosidad
o inquietud que les permita ver ciertas cosas con otra perspectiva, conocer
algunas nuevas o revalorar otras ya conocidas.
Espero que disfruten recorriendo esta página tanto como yo al momento
de hacer las tomas. Que las imágenes despierten en ustedes sensaciones
de algún tipo, porque de esta forma tendrán realmente sentido
para mí.

About me
I
was born in Zapala, province of Neuquen, Argentina, in December 1970.
Currently, I live in Puerto Madryn, Chubut, along with Anahí¬,
my partner and inseparable companion, with whom I share my great passion
for wildlife and who supports me despite the long working hours in the
field, and who suffers my long absences when I travel alone… Without
her support and understanding it would be very difficult for me to carry
out this passion.
Since I was a child I felt a strong attraction and interest for nature,
and the majesty of the different landscapes, natural environments and
wildlife, mainly wild animals, their diversity of shapes, colors and relationships
with their environment including other animals.
Almost simultaneously I needed to capture and transmit somehow these images
and moments that caused such deep feelings in me. I started with a small
Kodak camera, black and white film and a handful of directions from my
father, with whom I share this passion for nature and photography.
Undoubtedly, my vocation and my photographic style was shaped and accentuated
while I was a student of Zoology in La Plata University. During this time,
I greatly increased my knowledge on wildlife and their relationships,
and I was fortunate enough to travel throughout Argentina doing biology
fieldwork, but mostly capturing hundreds of images of animals, plants
and landscapes.
Concurrently, a strong commitment towards conservation developed in me.
In fact, my highest aspiration regarding my work, is that somehow it serves
to convey this sentiment on others, and thus contribute to raising awareness
on these topics and improving our quality of life by ensuring the perpetuity
of our ecosystems, so that in future, our children and grandchildren can
feel what I feel today when leaving my tent to breathe the fresh air in
the morning and hear the sound of birds in some remote place, far from
the maelstrom of noisy and impersonal big cities.
My work has been published in several journals and books in Argentina
and abroad. It appears in brochures and scientific articles. I have been
awarded in photo contests in Argentina and Chile. But above all, some
of my pictures have aroused new feelings in others, many times giving
them a new insights to things they already knew, other times making them
realize the unthinkable. This is for me, beyond question, the most rewarding
part of my undertaking, and what keeps me shooting photos every day.
Currently, my personal challenge is to find more "artistic"
approaches to nature, slowly watering down what's explicit, but still
showing everyday situations of the natural world by capturing these unique
and unrepeatable moments in the lives of animals.
In recent years, I have been traveling to other countries within South
America, in addition to Argentina, working on a field guide to the raptors
of South America. I take this opportunity for enriching my photographic
portfolio, while experiencing places I dreamed about since I was a boy.
I do not pretend my photographs, let alone my words, to show an absolute
truth. In fact, I believe that there is no such thing. I only wish to
share a point of view, my own, and perhaps to trigger curiosity or concern
on others, hopefully enabling them to see certain things with a different
perspective, learn something new, or rethink what's well-known to them.
I hope you enjoy your experience on this page as much as I do when shooting
photos. And I wish that the images inspire feelings inside you, because
that's the only way all this would really make sense to me.
